Hades is the son of Cronus and the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. He fought with his brothers a lot so he could rule the world, but since he was the worst fghter, he was named lord of the Underworld, ruling the dead. Hades is a greedy lord and he wanted to increase his amount of subject rapidly. Anyone who killed people to increase his number of subjects was rewarded greatly. And he never lets any of his guests leave.

Hades is also the god of wealth, due to the precious metals mined from the earth. He has a helmet that makes him invisable. He rarely leaves the underworld. He is unpitying and terrible, but not capricious. His wife is Persephone, whom Hades abducted. He is the King of the dead but, death itself is another god.

Today there is a video game out called God Of War, and Hades is a god featured in that game. Famous movies like Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notre Dame have been influenced by the story Hades and Persephone.

In Phantom, deformed Erick lives in the basement of the Opera House and his underground lair is simmilar to what Hades lived in. Erik is decribed as smelling like death, and that he has the appearance of a corpse similar to Hades being the representation of death, and suffering. The only difference it that Christine is not forced into his lair, like Persephones in to Hades', she went willingly.
